"We offer a variety of products to help make all aspects of RV care easier. Here are the basics you should know.Your RVs paint finish is like your skin-it is there to help protect your RV from the environment and also provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Just like your skin, your RV finish is exposed to various environmental factors that have an adverse effect on it, including UV exposure, moisture, road salts, road tar, bird droppings, tree sap, and pollution. These conditions cause problems such as corrosion, staining and chemical spotting, though with regularly scheduled washing and polishing these problems can be minimized."

Washing your RV.

1. Make sure the RVs surface temperature is not hot (under 90 degrees F) and not in direct sunlight

2.) Use a mild soap or detergent-avoid combination wash-n-wax products as they can cause build up.

3.) Use two dedicated wash mitts or wash brushes-one for paint and one for the wheels and undercarriage. A long handled brush makes RV washing much easier.

4.) Wash from the bottom up to avoid streaking; soap running down the sides will clean in streaks while leaving other areas dirty. These streaks can be difficult to remove. Starting at the bottom leave the soap running down an already clean area so no streaks are created. Be sure to rinse completely.

5.) Wet the entire area down to remove loose dirt and grime, then hand wash one area at a time beginning with the wheels and wheel wells first. Then begin washing the side panels. Rinse frequently.

6.) To remove stubborn stains such as road tar, bird droppings or tree sap, use an ammonia-based glass cleaner or small amount of rubbing alcohol on a damp cloths immediately followed by warm soapy water and rinse with clean water.

7.)Dry your RV with either a damp natural or synthetic chamois or lint-free mirco-fiber towel to minimize and/or prevent water stains.

Waxing and polishing your RV.

The protective finish on your RV needs a little more attention than just the occasional washing. Polishes and waxes serve several different purposes, including removing minor surface imperfections, removing minor scratches, sealing the pores of the finish, beautifying the paint finish with more gloss and protecting the paint finish from the elements. Be aware of vinyl graphics and trim which may not tolerate some products or the effects of machine buffing.

Most polishes and waxes are designed to clean and polish in one application whether by hand or machine. A hand-applied polish or wax will provide outstanding performance and protect the RV's finish. A machine applied polish will usually last longer

because the high rpm of the buffing wheel creates heat, resulting in a deeper wax film with high gloss, but can damage the finish, so be sure to use with care!

Avoid products that contain harsh abrasives such as rubbing or polishing compounds. These types of products are to be used by experienced technicians with proper training and equipment.

1. When washing your RV, be sure to apply polish or wax in a shaded area with the RV surface at the specified temperature according to the polish manufacturer recommendations.

2. Condition the polishing pad before beginning by rubbing a slight amount of polish on it.

3. Work in a small area at a time, using only the amount of polish specified in the directions.

4. Be sure to remove dried polish from crevices, trim and moldings around the RV.

Roofs and Streaking

The best way to prevent streaking is to keep your roof clean. Most of the streaking that occurs is the direct result of dirt washing off of the roof. Rubber roofs need a regular washing. Fiberglass roofs should be waxed the same as the sidewalls. Aluminum roofs should also be waxed if painted. If unpainted, black streaks can be difficult to control as the oxidation of the aluminum creates a grey-black residue. Keep it as clean as possible.
